Haiku Magic

Haiku is magic that captures fleeting moments with only a few words. According to the old school, a haiku should consist of a 5-7-5 syllable rhythm and include a word that suggests a season. I'd say ditch that! As long as the piece is written in three tight lines that invokes an image, it is haiku.

I saw my late father
dressed in white, standing on a pier
waiting for a river ferry

monkey

Go tell your monkey
that I don't see things
the way he does

working

Type ..... Type ..... Click
Busy making believe
I'm working, too

red skies

Red skies over the hills
A perfect morning for you
to leave this town

all-you-can-eat

Gorging myself
On all-you-can-eat
Like there's no tomorrow

I'm not

I am not
what you think I am
Nor will I ever be

in bed

Still in bed
Not ready to face the day
It's past 3 p.m.
